videantis Announces Membership in the Embedded Vision Alliance

Hannover, Germany (June 6th, 2012) – videantis GmbH (“videantis”), a leading provider of programmable low-power embedded video solutions, today announced its membership in the Embedded Vision Alliance (EVA), emphasizing its commitment to delivering flexible silicon IP solutions that advance the adoption of truly embedded vision applications at lowest silicon footprint and power consumption.

“We are delighted to welcome videantis as a member of the Embedded Vision Alliance,” said Jeff Bier, founder of the Alliance. “videantis has expanded its product portfolio to include flexible silicon IP to accelerate embedded vision applications, and has already delivered an accelerated OpenCV library to customers based on videantis silicon IP. We are excited to have the opportunity to work more extensively with the videantis team to help engineers design chips that incorporate improved embedded vision capabilities.”

With the flexibility of a programmable platform, the scalable videantis multi-core architecture efficiently accelerates a wide and further extensible range of embedded vision applications. Moreover, its ultra-low power consumption and very small silicon footprint enable advanced vision applications to become truly embedded.

“Providing unified information within an industry-wide collaboration effort will bring great benefits for embedded vision designers and their products,” said Young-Hun Kluge, VP of Sales and Marketing at videantis. “videantis is determined to contribute its expertise from numerous projects to further enhance embedded vision applications in fields as diverse as advanced driver assistance, innovative user interfaces, and security applications.”

Founded in 2011 and led by BDTI, the Embedded Vision Alliance is a membership-based organization dedicated to inspiring and empowering system designers, SoC designers and application developers to adopt embedded vision technology. As an industry-wide collaboration, the Alliance provides the practical information required to effectively incorporate embedded vision technology in new product designs, making products more intelligent and aware of their environments.

About the Embedded Vision Alliance
The Embedded Vision Alliance was launched in May of 2011, and now has 21 sponsoring member companies: AMD, Analog Devices, Apical, Avnet Electronics Marketing, BDTI, CEVA, Cognimem, CogniVue, eyeSight, Freescale, IMS Research, Intel, MathWorks, Maxim Integrated Products, NVIDIA, National Instruments, Omek Interactive, Texas Instruments, Tokyo Electron Device, videantis, and Xilinx. The first step of the Embedded Vision Alliance was to launch a website at www.Embedded-Vision.com. The site serves as a source of practical information to help design engineers and application developers incorporate vision capabilities into their products. The Alliance’s plans include educational webinars, industry reports, and other related activities. Everyone is free to access the resources on the website, which is maintained through member and industry contributions. Membership information is also available at the site.
