On2 Technologies Licenses VP6 Video Decoder Technology to videantis

CLIFTON PARK, NY (September 22, 2009) - On2 Technologies (NYSE Amex: ONT) announced today that videantis has licensed its VP6 video decoder source code for implementation in the videantis v-MPx programmable processor platform.

videantis makes flexible IP cores for advanced multimedia applications. With its optimized proprietary instruction set and parallel processing capabilities, the videantis v-MPx platform supports the implementation of high-performance video and image processing tasks using software updates instead of hardware changes. The v-MPx platform is used in customer integrated circuits ranging from mobile applications to home entertainment, automotive, and surveillance products. videantis's technology is fully proven in working silicon and FPGA prototyping systems.

"We're excited that videantis customers will have the best playback experience for high-quality VP6 content from their favorite video sites," said Matt Frost, interim CEO at On2.

"With the addition of On2 VP6 to our codec portfolio, our customer's products that use the videantis v-MPx processor platform are now able to access a wide range of popular, high-quality internet video with a simple software upgrade instead of a full silicon re-spin," said Young-Hun Kluge, VP of Sales & Marketing at videantis.

videantis v-MPx processor platforms featuring On2 VP6 are available for licensing immediately.

videantis and Pro Design realize real-time
H.264/AVC encoding on CHIPit Platinum system

San Diego, California, - June 4, 2007 - videantis GmbH and Pro Design reveal the integration of real-time H.264/AVC baseline profile encoder on a CHIPit Platinum prototyping system. A demonstration can be seen at the 44th Design Automation Conference, Booth 6678.

The H.264/AVC video encoder has successfully been realized on a combination of the MIPS24KEc embedded RISC core and the videantis v-MP2000M video core on the CHIPit Platinum system. At a prototyping system clock speed of 37MHz, the encoder achieves full 15fps in QVGA resolution, suitable for applications like a desktop video phone over internet or handheld media players.

Dr. Hans-Joachim Stolberg, CEO of videantis rates this combined effort of the three companies as a significant achievement: "The prototype integration proves how the MIPS and videantis cores favorably work together on video compression applications. This integration visualizes the high performance of the video architecture to run H.264/AVC at this low clock speed and thus giving evidence for MIPS and videantis providing an optimized system approach for low power mobile applications."

"By implementing the videantis v MP2000M and MIPS24KEc embedded RISC core in our CHIPit prototyping system we could offer the customer a possibility to verify his design near real time and in a real world environment. With this methodology the customer could accelerate his verification and development time to achieve a much faster time to market" stated Gunnar Scholl Director Marketing and Business Development at ProDesign.
