Technical Marketing Director (m/f)

Job Description

You will be a key member of the management team responsible for helping to set and execute the strategy and tactics necessary for market success. In this role, you will architect and lead the overall marketing activities within videantis throughout the next phase of significant company growth, driving both inbound product definition and outbound marketing strategy.

For inbound product definition, you will keep close and continuous contact with the markets and key customers to listen and learn about their future requirements as well as the general industry trends within videantis’ target segments mobile, consumer, and automotive, empowering you to guide the engineering teams towards next-generation prototype and product development and lead the sales towards design win opportunities ahead of the competition.

For the outbound marketing strategy, you will be responsible for increasing the worldwide visibility of videantis in the market, highlighting and communicating the specific value propositions of the videantis solutions, and positioning the videantis product portfolio in the individual market segments to set the stage for subsequent sales successes. You will perform competitive analyses and will be the advocate of programmable solutions as offered by videantis versus traditional fixed-function approaches. In this function, you will author technical white papers, participate in trade shows, technical conferences and industry events in the field, showcase videantis technology demonstrations to emphasize the marketing message, and will be the spokesperson of videantis to press and analysts in these matters.

Your main responsibilities are:

Inbound:

  • Understand customer technical requirements in videantis’ target segments mobile, consumer, automotive
  • Perform market research, identify major trends and needs  in the target segments
  • Generate competitive analysis and competitor intelligence
  • Be the expert in customers, how they buy and their buying criteria, and transfer this knowledge to the sales channel
  • Work closely with sales, FAEs, and engineering teams to identify and develop business strategies and tactical plans

Outbound:

  • Develop value propositions and sustainable competitive advantages, differentiating videantis’ offer in the video & vision semiconductor IP market
  • Advocate the programmable processor paradigm in the market
  • Confirm product definition via customer visits
  • Develop marketing campaigns, primarily targeting large / tier-1 customers
  • Create marketing collateral promoting products to field sales and customers, including product announcements, sales presentations and competitive analysis
  • Organize participation and represent videantis in trade shows, conferences and industry events
  • Serve as a spokesperson in customer meetings, press interviews, industry analyst calls, industry events, etc. for technology and product related issues
  • Coordinate and write white papers
  • Responsible for branding, advertising, and web

Desired Skills & Experience

  • BS required; MBA or MS preferred
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in technical marketing for semiconductor / embedded processing
  • Strong technical understanding of programmable DSP
  • Technical knowledge of video codecs and/or embedded vision
  • Experience in market segments mobile, consumer, automotive
  • Existing relationships with senior management of blue-chip firms in relevant industries are beneficial
  • Ability to understand product technical advantages and turn those into marketing differentiators
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written, presentation)
  • Strong relationship building and influencing skills
  • Strong team player and very self-motivated individual able to work effectively “hands-on” in a small enterprise environment
  • Willing to travel extensively
